Service of Carols and Lessons at South Baddesley Church with the other
WI’s from the Lymington Group was very well attended. Mince pies and
tea were served afterwards.
9th
December Outing to
Salisbury Theatre to see My Fair Lady was enjoyed by everyone who was on
the trip

Christmas
Tea was enjoyed by all and was followed by a few quizzes with a general
chat and raffle
7th
November Our Annual
General Meeting was very well attended, and a new committee was elected
with this years president being re-elected. Two long serving committee
members who had stepped down from their roles were presented with pot
plants for all their previous hard work they had done for the committee.
1st
November The New
Forest Show committee held their meeting at Boldre with representatives
from each of the Hampshire WI groups. A cream tea was followed by a
cookery demonstration giving ideas for an easy meal for over the
Christmas season.
27th
October had a few of
Hordle members attending Lymington Community Centre for the Annual
Meeting of the Lymington group.
25th
October was the
Annual Council Meeting at Basingstoke which representatives from our
group attended.
17th
October saw teams
from around the area competing in a skittles match at Pennington
followed by a pub lunch. Our team did not disgrace themselves by
finishing around the middle of the winners table.
13th
October we provided
another cream tea for over 30 visiting WI members from Brookwood and
guests who were visiting the area.
12th
October
a group of our members had a delicious lunch at a pub in Hordle.
3rd
October our monthly
meeting was very well attended and we heard and enjoyable talk and slide
show about Cyprus by John Coomb
29th
September nearly 60
members and guests enjoyed a delicious Harvest Lunch
made and served by our committee
16th
September we
provided a cream tea for 50 visiting WI members from near Winchester,
who had enjoyed a tour around the New Forest and a short visit to
Lymington
5th
September
our monthly meeting with a very interesting and amusing
speaker explaining about his experiences as chief salesman and then
buyer in the china section of Harrods in the 50’s and 60’s.
2nd
September
We manned the refreshments for the Village Fair, and had
our own area to show off our NFS entries and host a Tombola stall which
sold out despite moving inside to defeat the weather.
30th
August We entered
two teams in the Village Festival ‘Wine and Wisdom’ evening, and one of
these came in joint third with the WISH (Women’s
Institute Supporting Husbands) team.
9th
August
saw a group out on a visit to the American Museum near
Bristol, which proved very entertaining and interesting

a lovely evening at our president’s house with an
American Supper provided by us all
25th
26th and 27th July had all our hard
work during the year on display in the WI tent of the New Forest Show.
Our Institute had the most entries submitted by any branch and we gained
a few Gold, double silver and silver stars for our efforts. Here are
some pictures of our co-operative entries
4th July saw the group on a
visit to a Milliner in Vaggs Lane in Hordle. The theatrical
milliner had many stories to tell and some wonderful hats and masks to
display which we all had fun trying on. A lovely tea in the many
nooks and crannies of her garden followed.
