October.
Our monthly meeting with a Surprise guest speaker, One of our members,
Wendy, told us all about her life in Music. A trained coloratura
soprano, she has appeared on television and numerous armature musicals,
and she gave a entertaining talk interspersed with extracts from her CD
and live songs. |

We hosted a
Cream Tea for visitors from St Thomas’s Church Fair Oak |

A group from
Hordle attended the New Forest Show round up meeting for this years show
in Lyndhurst, and a first inkling of next years show which will have a
Music theme |

Skittles
Match with Lymington Group of WI’s. The practise on the 21st
paid off because our team won. Waiting now for the next round against
other WI’s in the County. |

afternoon, not many participants but all had fun. |

The pub lunch was held at the Walkford so that the skittles team ( and
everybody else) could practise for the Lymington Group skittles match on
30th of this month. |

The speaker
at our meeting gave a very interesting insight about the local RNLI.
This months competition was won by Ros who managed to fit 170 objects
into a small flowerpot. |

We had our
gazebo at the Community Association Annual Fair selling our homemade
cakes and jams, making a very nice profit for our funds. |

A clever
poem about “What we would change if we were Prime Minister” by Pam was
voted overwhelmingly the winner of our competition this month. An
informative talk about his work in the middle east as “Soldier at War”
was given by Major Woolley |

Our best quiz team ladies were at the Lymington Group Quiz this
afternoon representing Hordle for a place in the Hampshire County Quiz.
They finished third, so well done girls.
Another
fun afternoon at the Games Club was held in our own hall. |

Our monthly
competition ‘best flower’ and was won by Agnes, and we had a
demonstration held by two Avon ladies |

to West Woodhay House proved to be a lovely outing, with fine weather
and plenty to see and do. |

food was delicious. |

we did not win, a good evening was had by all |

At this months birthday meeting we had to vote for our resolution to be
put forward at the National AGM. We voted to support the Non closures of
local libraries. Then had birthday cake with our tea. |

speaker, who was a Show judge, explained how to stand a better chance at
getting high marks in shows !! |

Harvest Lunch, provided by the committee, for members and guests went

all disappeared leaving a large contribution into WI funds |

Supper was a chance to show our culinary skills and lots of interesting
dishes were available to taste. |

At our June meeting (brought forward so committee members could
attend the National AGM in Cardiff) we had a local store owner keep us
up to date with what plans were in hand for the rebuilding of his store,
and how it all began |

Our birthday
and resolutions meeting. Unanimous vote in favour of this years
resolution to ask the government for compulsory labelling of food with
country of origin for ALL ingredients of the product. Then the Drama
group performed their first show.

It was VERY
well received and we now hope to encourage more members to come and
join. |

A couple of
the members came to the hall to help a committee member (and her
husband) give a face-lift to the entrance hall with some bright yellow
paint. |

A few
members attended the Hordle Community Association Quiz held in
the Pavilion, with one team of four representing the WI and others on
their own behalf or playing with other association and groups they also
belonged to. |

Morning at our presidents house where our new members had a good chance
to ask our committee members about the WI and all our activities. |

Dress
rehearsal time for our newly formed Drama group as we prepared for our
first ‘Show’ to be performed to our members at the resolution meeting in

This months
speaker was in line with last years WI resolution about “SOS for Bees”
He explained very simply how the whole process of how the Honey is made,
and answered the numerous questions at the end of his talk. |

preliminary meeting about the schedule for this years New Forest Show
was held in Brockenhurst, and we heard the rules for all the different
classes we could enter this July. |

skittles match at Hobourne park left everyone asking how soon we could

meeting for the Lymington Group of WI’s was entertained by a speaker
from Isle of Wight on quilts, who’s enthusiasm and skill had all
enthralled. |

informative talk about the history and the current way that the hounds
still run. |

giving information on how to keep out feet in tip top condition |
